Plot Synopsis
The crew heads to the Neutral Zone to help solve an interesting problem and gets more than they bargained for.
Plot Summary
The ship joined the crew of the Calzone? in orbit above Parthak, a remulan colony in the Neutral Zone, to assist in Captain Ward in dealing with an incident. Captain Smith beamed down and foundthat Dr. Haka was involved in the investigation and the two discussed the issues with dealing with Captain Ward as he yelled at an ensign in the background.
On board the Muffin, Dr. Haka introduced Captain Smith to Captain Telak and General Tomahawk and they began discussion of the events that transpired on the colony below. Accusations flew, but Bob quickly deflected them putting the question of his crew's competency to make an entire colony disappear on the table. Stranger than the disappearance of the population of the colony was the fact that every piece of furniture was replaced with prefabricated faux wood non-remulan furniture. Marty brought word that similar incidents had occurred in Alliance space and that the problem might be bigger than they had thought. Bob was able to confirm those findings but gained very little extra information in talking with Captain Ylissa Vella, who was investigating the issue. Before they could talk further the ship went into Red Alert.
Two more Remulan ships had decloaked and were demanding the Muffin's surrender. Captain Smith quickly refuted the attacking General's accusations while the remulans on board requested asylum. After having Skip hang up on the general and then put him on hold when he called back, Bob finally let the communication come through and the General apologized for coming off half-cocked and expecting the Muffin to simply surrender when they had been invited.
After the incident, Haka explained how the Remulan government had begun to fracture and there might be further problems associated with it. Bob simply took this in stride and informed Haka that Captain Vella would be in touch with Captain Telak about coordinating on their current problem. They left on good terms and hoped the could quickly resolve their new mutual problem.
