Captain Robert "Bob" Smith
"Where's that Red Shirt guy, I want to stand in front of him."--Bob Smith as he meets more and more of the crew.
Robert Smith is the captain of the Alliance Star Ship Muffin. He has had a long and distinguished career, marred only by the "Macaroni Incident" which landed him his current position. He is a stoic and tolerant Captain who has settled into his role as the reluctant father to a group of crazed children who run around his ship. He has come to love his crew as if they were his children and feels responsible and pained when they are hurt. He is devoted to the Alliance in spirit but has begun to question the leadership behind it.

Biography
Early Childhood
Robert Maurits Smith was born on a small farm in the American Midwest, Iowa specifically to Paul and Wendy Smith. He was the 5th of 7 children and never had a great deal of things growing up. When he was a young man he dreamed of going into outer space... when he turned sixteen his dream came true when his family took their vacation on Mars. It was on Mars that Smith discovered the Alliance Academy, and begged his parents to let him join when he was old enough. As he was already old enough and his parents had many mouths to feed they left him on Mars at the Academy and everyone was happy.
School Life
Smith graduated in the top 30 % of his class, which in itself doesn't seem like much of an achievement but as most don't live long enough to graduate due too constant mishaps with kids wearing red shirts graduating at all was a spectacular event for Bob and his family, who were unable to attend but did send a lovely card.
Tasus 9
As a Lieutenant, Smith served with distinction on the Versailles? and the Troubadour?. During his tenure on the ship a disaster on Tasus 9 he encountered a man named The Doctor and his companion Rose Tyler. Through the help of the Doctor they were able to correct the problems on Tasus 9.
Encounter with the Remulans
Under Captain Antoine Lehrer on the Troubadour he received the Alliance Medal of Valor for saving the life of fifteen crewmembers during a Remulan incursion. It was on this incursion that his DNA was sampled by the Remulans and they began a project to clone him, just to see if they could.
The Macaroni Incident
Smith rose through the ranks quickly and when he became Captain was given the command of the Ludicrous?. It was on his first command he fell upon a disaster that remains classified to this day and referred to only as "The Macaroni Incident." It was after this incident that the Captain instead of being court marshaled was reassigned to the Muffin, as a form of punishment.
The Muffin
Though he had been assigned to the Muffin as a punishment he found the crew, while crazy a talented and interesting group. He was accepted quickly as their commanding officer and begin to forge friendships unlike any he had garnered during his career.
Though Bob attempted to aide his first officer as Jedi, his interest and aptitude for the Jedi arts were lacking. He abandoned his lightsaber for a mystical sword granted to him by the omnipotent being ; and has been using it as a weapon ever since.
Early into his tenure on the Muffin Bob began a relationship with Chief Engineer Shauna Finelli. They grew close quickly and he has even come to accept her cat.
The Muffin B
Though he was responsible for setting off the Muffin's self destruct he was not blamed and allowed to captain the next model of the ship, maintaining his current crew.
After meeting with the Brain he was replaced by a robot doppelganger which the crew quickly discovered and was dispatched by Darth Pester who also happens to be the Captain's evil cloned twin.
When Marty fell to the dark side he found himself somewhat distraught and angry at the loss of his friend and colleague, but he is glad that Belinda has returned and that he is in a position, albeit a passive one, to help her stay out of the reach of the law.
His relationship with Shauna continues to grow and he has found himself desperately trying to avoid the advances of his current XO.
Personality Traits
(:thumb Fans./humbug.jpg width=200 captionfmt="Captain Robert 'Bob' Smith." align=right:)After a long and distinguished career things stagnated and Bob was assigned to the Muffin. At first this made him bitter and angry. The once career focused man became more relaxed however as a side effect of dealing with the Muffin's unorthodox crew. He is stoic and often appears humorless, but in truth his humor is merely dry and sardonic and he revels in making others the butt of jokes in compensation for that fact that he is stuck at the center of a joke so often himself. He is devoted to the Alliance in spirit even when he disagrees with with the administration but above all he is devoted to his ship and crew.
Powers and Abilities
Though Bob has some minor use of the Force he is not a skilled Jedi like his former first officer or his chief medical officer. Bob is, however, a skilled diplomat and adept at putting up with the shenanigans of others. He is skilled in multiple languages including Wookie and Cat. Bob is also skilled at hand to hand combat as well as several forms of weapons combat.
Associations
Not long after becoming Captain of the Muffin, Bob began a relationship with Chief Engineer Shauna Finelli. The two have carried on a relationship that is more or less a secret from the Alliance but fairly obvious to the entire crew. They don't fear any real retribution, however the arrival of Deborah Pascal, who appears to be interested in the Captain, has created some tension. Bob has also begun to grow fond of Shauna's cat, Conway.
When Bob was young the remulan's used some of his DNA to clone him creating his identical, but evil clone Rob who appears from time to time to torment Bob and appears to have little other agenda.
Behind the Scenes
- The inspiration for Bob Smith came from the ubqiutious starship captain from Star Trek, as Kirk, Janeway, and Archer all originated in the American Midwest it only made sense that Bob would also be from the Midwest.
- The name Bob Smith was chosen simply because it is a fairly common name.
- Bob's personality is partially based on that of the author, or rather his more dry and "adult" side.
- The idea of Bob being played by Bruce Cambpell was inspired on the forums by siabur
