Cyborg
Cyborgs though not a race in the same sense as others are those organic lifeforms who have been modified cybernetically by choice or by necessity so that some portions of their anatomy have been upgraded to enhance physical attributes or to sustain life after severe injury and damage.
Biology and Appearance
Cyborgs are organic beings who have had portions of their anatomy augmented or replaced with electronic and mechanical technology. A wide variety of beings have had proceedures done to enhance physical attributes mechanically and many have been in such a state of injury that it was the only way that they could survive.
Beings who have had a single organ replaced with a mechanical counterpart do not qualify as cyborgs, it is accepted that at least 35% of an organic life form must be replaced with mechanical or electrical material before they are considered cyborgs. Those with less than 35% replacement are simply refered to as having prosthetics.
Culture and Society
As they are not a race there is no unifying culture and society to cyborgs.
History
The history of cybernetic organisms dates back to the early thousands of years with the advent of mechanized prosthetic devices. These devices eventually gave way to whole body systems and limbs being replaced by mechanical and electrical devices. In some cultures it became a sign of achievement to have more and more of a body replaced with cybernetic enhancements.
