Quantum Leapfrog Accelerator
Believing one could timetravel anywhere they wanted to Dr. Malcom Notio stepped into the Quantum Leapfrog Accelerator and vanished. He awoke to find himself trapped in the past, facing mirror images that were not his home and hoping each time that his next leap would be the leap that found his friend. It wasn't, he didn't find her, the rest of the crew did, and he made it back just fine.

History
Designed based on lifetime time travel, the Quantum Leapfrog Accelerator allowed a person to be transported into the body of someone who had lived in their lifetime while that person was transported into the body of the traveler in the future. It allowed the ability to observe the past without being noticed as a foreigner, at least unless animals, children, or mentally unstable people were looking at the person, those could tell.
Construction
By harnessing complex tachyon energy it allowed the traveled to leapfrog into a person in the pasts body. Sometimes it had the effect of making the brain go a little Swiss cheese, though.
