History
Computer memory was always a a premium, but the isometric system allowed for much more data to be compressed into much smaller spaces.
Construction
Through the use of complex isometrics data was compressed onto fine chips which allowed storage of vast amounts of data on relatively small portable devices. Huge arrays of such chips were used to house memory systems for complex star ships.
