Encounter Suit
Encounter Suits were any set of complex protective equipment designed to help an individual survive in an atmosphere that they were not biologically adapted to. Some were more sophisticated than others. The Cryptlons used them as a matter of principal though there was debate as to whether they were actually needed or just used to hide their true appearance.

History
Born from the concept of space suits, encounter suits were more for interacting on a a day to day basis in an environment not hospitable to the particular species but necessary for the majority of other species.
Construction
Encounter suits varied wildly in construction and design based on the species wearing them, but were made to be adaptable to environments inhospitable to the wearer.
