Bumpkinian
Bumpkinians are a cannibalistic humanoid species from the Outer Rim world of Tharkail 6. They resemble carved pumpkins on human bodies and build their ships from remnants of other ships.
Biology and Appearance
Bumpkinians are humanoid in appearance but have facial features like carved jack-o-lanterns. Bumpkinian digestive systems are capable of digesting almost all forms of organic and semi organic life, though they often prefer to eat sentient species.
Glands in their necks secrete an odor which they find attractive and is involved in their mating rituals, however most other races find this scent disgusting.
Culture
Bumpkinians have a nomadic society based around the asteroid cluster that is all that remains of Tharkail 6. Their homes and their ships appear to be badly pieced together combination of other ships that they have captured or found. They are suspicious of visitors and cannibalistic in nature.
Bumpkinian society is organized into clans and family groups within the clans often inbreed which for their species actually strengthens their genetic makeup rather than destabilizing it as is the case with most species.
History
During a feud between rival clans mutually assured destruction was achieved on Tharkail 6 resulting in the planet being shattered into several hundred asteroids. When the dust had settled, so to speak, the remaining bumpkinians settled on the 64 largest asteroids and set up a series of "trailer parks." Communication between the clans began in earnest and the Bumpkinian Trailerpark Association was formed.
Since this time the bumpkinians have looked beyond their own system to harass and devour rather than fighting amongst themselves.
