Kryptonite

Kryptonite was a radioactive mineral left over from the destruction of Krypton. It was harmful to a number of species as most radioactive elements were, but especially harmful to Kryptonians and was able to reduce them to quivering masses even on worlds with yellow stars where they had superhuman powers.
