Xugoni
Xugoni were fungal growths from Wok. They were considered a delicacy on a number of worlds.
Biology and Appearance
Xugoni appeared as large white curved stalks that stretched out from a colorful, usually orange base. The white stalk was the edible part, while the orange base contained a toxin that could kill most lifeforms in seconds. If not prepared properly the toxin could spread to the stalk, making the xugoni a delicacy and dangerous to eat.
History
It took several attempts to realize that the xugoni stalk was edible and could be prepared in such a way as not to kill the person enjoying the meal. A great deal of xugoni is exported off of Wok and grown elsewhere for its use in cuisine and assassination.
