Scarab
Scarabs were large beetles with hard carapaces.
Biology and Appearance
Scarabs resembled the scarab beetles of Earth superficially, however they were much larger in size and far more intelligent.
History
Whether the species arose on its own or was a genetic modification of the Earth scarab beetle remained unknown. They were genetically similar but they appeared similar as well which could account for the genetic similarity.
