The trouble with big explosions is that they tend to set off other explosive objects nearby. What are the chances something tied to that gate system is going to explode because it’s suddenly not powering anything? It doesn’t seem like their captors were terribly smart. 😀
If they were smart they’d have rigged things that way intentionally, though, so anyone destroying the gate would be either stranded with very little usable resources or dead from a larger explosion. 😀
