According to the wiki links, trihelium is the normal power source for the engines and neffridium powers most Alliance energy weapons (which I think has actually been namedropped before). So I can see how it might be potentially explosive, but otherwise, yeah, not sure what the idea is.
Actually, based upon what the others said, it sounds like she wants to turn the ships engines into a power source that will “weaponize” anything powered by it…….IE: Shields that can be used to destructively ram targets, tractors that will rip their targets apart, sensors that will deconstruct what they’re analyzing, etc.
But to what end purpose does it actually accomplish? Will it make their shields stronger? What?

Apparently, Bob doesn’t care given that there’s only a 30% chance this plan will blow up the ship. Evidently most of their plans are VERY MUCH worse.
What if they used Folger’s Crystals?
That should work. That coffee is repulsive enough to keep *anything* away.
Sounds to me like she’s going to try to turn the engines into weapons.

So… wait she’s making Plot Armor?
Sorry, but I have to point out this little error in panel 2 – “What if replace…” I assume it’s supposed to be “What if *I* replace…”
