Season 14, Episode 18: 14th Year Anniversary
It’s been 14 years guys. Ponder that for a moment. Not a lot of comics can say that. No other LEGO comics can say it. Well at least not for another 6 months or so.
There’s been a glitch with the contest, I apologize folks, but I will get things set up properly and continue with the contest. Please stand by.
When did I start reading the comic? I’m not sure, I’m thinking sometime in early 2006. I finished my Masters in May 2007 and I know I was following it before I graduated.
I believe I’ve been reading this webcomic since the fall of 2013. I was just starting my freshman year of college. I’ve followed loyally ever since, and made the archive crawl twice. I can’t remember how I first found Legostar, though. My favorite moment would have to be the Muffin’s version of the classic Star Trek mission.
“Space. The final frontier.”
“What about the oceans? Or underground?”
“Marty!”
“Sorry, sir.”
“These are the voyages of the starship Muffin. Our seemingly endless mission: ‘To explore strange, new plotlines. To annoy new life and new civilizations.’ ”
“Annoy?”
“You heard me. ‘To boldly go … somewhere.’ “
I was a freshman in college too. So 7 years ago. I found it through Irregular Webcomic. Which also led me to Darths and Droids. Still no idea how I found IW though.
I started following it a couple years ago, maybe 2? went back and read the whole archive one week. I’m particularly fond of Marty. He just seems to get in trouble without meaning to sooooo often!
I can’t remember when I started following, exactly. I think it was in about 2008.
I’m not sure when I started, either. Sometime after 2006 I think. Maybe I should just ask my best friend when I started pestering him with phrases that begin with “So in that Lego comic I love…”
… hm. I started reading in *scratches head*, *googles*
Ah! on the 9th of Dec. 2005! The crossover with DMM’s “Irregular Webcomic”
Thanks for “stealing” part of my day ever since 😉
Started Reading about the end of 2005 on the back of the Irregular Webcomic recommendation been reading ever since. Just tend to lurk.
Not sure when and from where I found this webcomic, but I’m going to say during the 2007 Crossover Wars.
Happy Anniversary Legostar!
Well, I first found this comic thanks to the first time Irregular Webcomic linked over here and I think it was when THAT comic was posted but I can’t for the life of me remember when that was either.
As for favourite moments, wow, too many to choose from but I guess I will say I’m rather fond of any of the times the Doctor has appeared. I’m particularly fond of how you made your 10th Doctor and how spot on her looks 😀
Obviously that should say how spot on HE looks, my finger slipped. Still waiting on a female Doctor.
I’d love to see a female Doctor, if only to see the fandom’s reaction.
Hey The other Mike,
it wouldn’t upset all of us, I’ve be Whovian for nearly all my life and I’d love to see a female Dr. I actually thought it was going to come to pass this time, but then they cast Peter Capaldi and now I have to wait a few more years.
As to when I started reading this, well I think it was on the same day as Xaran Alamas because I too came here the first time Irregular Webcomic linked to here!
Great read Dr LG, keep up the good work and since I intend on hanging around on this Earth for at least another 14 years, you’re only half way there! 🙂
Rob
Considering that Romana mentioned at one point that she used to be a man in a previous regeneration? Probably not that big a deal. Or are you talking about “fans” who have only watched the new series?
You were on year 4, can’t recall how I found you now, but as I’m a big fan of sci-fi and Lego, it’s likely a result some random googling session that brought you to my attention…
And like many done the archive crawl (a few times now)
About a decade iirc, and I’m 2/3rds of the way through my fourth or fifth read through. Still wondering if you will ever do a spoof of the namesake or if that’s the whole point…
I’m not sure how long I’ve been reading, since about 2009 I think, maybe earlier. It took me weeks to go back through the archive from the very beginning to get caught up on everything though I remember. OCD can be a pain like that sometimes
I think I started reading about two years ago.
I have been reading since i want to say season 4 or 5
I start reading your webcomics in 2006. A decade of lego.
It was June of 2006. I had just started working out of college and had 6 weeks of waiting to be assigned to a team. I’ve been coming to the site almost every day since!
Congrats on the anniversary, Doctor!
Not sure how long I’ve been here. It’s pretty recent compared to everyone else – maybe 2013? I came here through Star Pirates after seeing there was a Legostar fleet and wondering what all that was about. Done the whole archive crawl at least twice.
Congratulations on the anniversary!
I am not sure exactly when I started reading your comic. Several years at least. I got started by going through the archives with comic rocket reading 10 comics a day. It took a while to catch up. 🙂
Now, it’s one of my 3 main comics — Legostar Galactica, Irregular Webcomic, and xkcd.
Wow 14 years is a long time! I’m honestly not sure… Probably since at least 2010. I believe I came to you via Irregular Webcomic.
I started reading this comic last October, so I’m pretty new compared to 14 years. Good thing the archives exist.
I started reading LG during the events of the “Clown Wars” episode, which according to the wiki would put me in around the start of summer of ’05.
After getting back into Lego in the early 2000’s, I joined ClassicSpace.com to try and catch up with my favorite theme. Thanks to links from that site’s forum, I had seen and started following a Lego comic called “Space: The Comic”, which used all my favorite Classic Space sets to great effect, starting sometime in 2009-2010 I believe. That led me to Tranquility Base, and then to the Brick Comic Network. When I, as a long-time Star Wars and sci-fi fan from the 70’s, see a comic called “Legostar Galactica”, how could I NOT check it out? I’ve been a loyal reader ever since, for these past 6-7 years.
I started with a crawl through the archives, and I’ve since accomplished that feat two more times. I know it was just a temporary gag at the very beginning, but “Duck and Cover” is still my favorite bit…I guess the only problem about such a long-running comic is that it takes so much longer to crawl through the archives anymore!
Congratulations on an amazing accomplishment, and I sincerely look forward to many more years of sci-fi silliness enshrined in a child’s favorite toy. May your website never be taken down or lost to the archives, and if you ever publish in book form, I’ll be at the front of the line for purchase!
Thanks again, Doctor L., for all the fun.
Its been about 6 or 7 years since I first read this strip, I remember distinctly reading the first strip, and being immediately hooked. Since then I’ve read, commented, and enjoyed this comic for years, even getting back into Lego just to build my own custom bridge in the same style.
From that, I’ve started building Mocs, creating characters and stories, and animating a lot of it. So Thank you Dr. Legostar, thank you for inspiring me.
Wow, I’ve been reading for over 8 years! And loving every page! Can’t remember exactly when I started, but I know it was sometime between 2006 and 2008.
Tranquility Base Comic lead me here. I’m glad I stayed.
Happy Anniversary, Doc. 🙂
Happy anniversary!
I started reading beginning of 2013, about half a year before starting my own Lego comic.
What an achievement, I honestly don’t know how you keep this up on a daily basis, but I’m glad you do!
I can’t remember what brought me here but it has been a while ago (which explains my fading memories about it). It might have been an Irregular Webcomic cross-over, or maybe I was reading both comics at the time of the cross-over already.
It’s really amazing that you have kept up the daily update schedule for so long. Here’s to the next 14 years (wishful thinking)! Happy anniversary! Gwarin
Happy anniversary Legostar!
It was about 3 or 4 years ago when I stumbled across this comic. I was on the topwebcomics voting site voting for another comic I follow when Legostar’s name caught my eye on the list. I took a look-see, and have been a fan ever since.
I’d have to say my favorite moment was when the Muffin crew encountered the “Trope-ic Field” awhile back.
Keep up the good work, Doc!
If I remember right I found my way here through a Tranquillity Base crossover around maybe 2004 or 2006, I stopped reading for about a year or two and restarted reading around 2010-11. I’ve been through the archive at least 5 or 6 times and am a little pissed I didn’t enter the 10yr anniversary competition when I had a chance. Here’s to 14 years of fun times and long storyline’s, and here’s to wrapping up all the current and future storyline’s to come.
I was linked here from the Star Traks forum I don’t remember how long ago (had to have been around 10 years ago since I was still living in Browns Valley, and I moved out of there in 2007…). Meija Meneks of BorgSpace posted a link to one of the Harry Potter strips and I’ve been hooked ever since.
