It helps that he, you know, actually knows something about what Johnny’s ship has been up to. I kind of wonder whether or not Waif knows what ship he even serves on, or who Belinda Reines, Marty, or Captain Bob are.
Speaking of which, I kind of miss Marty. I hope we’ll be seeing more of him soon – him and his girlfriend together especially.
Shami’s attitude reminds me of the positive version of the “Jante Law”.
To explain, the original version originates in the Danish author Aksel Sandemose’s novel “A Fugitive Crosses His Tracks” back in 1933, after having immigrated to Norway. It basically goes:
You must not think you are anybody
While the more modern, more positive goes:
You must believe that everybody are somebody
I honestly believe that the second version is a necessary way of thinking in the modern world. Good for Johnny that he is free from her.

She’s been on the Muffin; that’s where she met Johnny, as well as everyone else.
… And she’s been dating and having sex with “a nobody.” So what does that say about her? Good for Johnny.
