In the intensive care unit the current thinking is that “light sedation” is best, specifically a Richmond Agitation-Sedation Score (RASS) score of -2, (0 being a baseline not sedated but not agitated). I recently gave a talk about Pain, Sedation, and Delirium in the ICU and there were jokes about falling asleep during the presentation since it was right after lunch, so I wanted to put a joke about that in here.
